SPS West is proud distributor for ThermOmegaTech temperature control valves. ThermOmegaTech® has been a leader in the design and manufacture of self-actuating thermostatic temperature control valves.
These thermostatic valves are designed to sense water or air temperature and automatically modulate open to bleed off the cold water in the line when temperatures approach freezing. Once the valve opens, warmer water from the resupply will flow through the line, preventing it from freezing. Once the water temperature is back above the freeze danger range, the valve will modulate closed again to conserve water and reduce wastewater disposal costs.
Protect your personnel with scald protection products designed specifically to drain excessively hot water from safety showers and eyewash systems.
HAT/SP valves in the standard flow direction are initially air temperature sensitive then as the valve opens it responds to flowing water temperature. HAT/SP valves in the reverse flow direction are water temperature sensitive. This valve would be ideally applied in a circulating tempered water loop.
IC/SP valves are purely water temperature sensitive. The sensing element, the thermal actuator, is always wetted and is preferable for heat traced lines where scald protection flow is not required unless heat tracing fails. IC/SP valves are installed within the heated system.
HAT/FP valves in the standard flow direction are initially air temperature sensitive, then as the valve opens, it responds to the flowing water temperature. While this improves the safety factor since the thermostatic antifreeze valve opens sooner, the discharge flow must be handled properly to prevent an ice patch. In reverse flow direction, HAT/FP valves are water temperature sensing like IC/FP.
IC/FP valves are purely water temperature sensitive as the thermal actuator (the sensing element) is always wetted. These freeze-proof valves are preferable for heat-traced lines where freeze protection of the flow is not required unless heat tracing fails.
Temperature control valves are vital components in industrial systems for regulating the temperature of fluids. They are used to maintain the desired temperature within processes, ensuring efficiency and safety. Commonly found in industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing, and manufacturing, these valves adjust the flow of heating or cooling fluids to maintain optimal conditions.
In regions like Western Canada (Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut), temperature control is critical due to the extreme climatic conditions and the presence of major industries such as oil and gas, mining, and manufacturing. Efficient temperature control systems are essential for these industries to ensure operational stability and energy efficiency.
When selecting temperature control valves, it is important to consider:
In Western Canada, the oil and gas industry is a critical sector where temperature control valves are indispensable. These valves maintain precise temperatures in pipelines, refineries, and processing plants.
For instance, in crude oil processing, the temperature must be carefully managed to avoid equipment damage and ensure optimal separation of different hydrocarbon fractions.
Additionally, in natural gas processing, temperature control is vital to prevent hydrate formation, which can clog pipelines and disrupt operations. The harsh climatic conditions in regions like Alberta and Saskatchewan make temperature control even more crucial, as extreme cold can lead to the thickening of oil, which can cause blockages and inefficiencies in the system.
The chemical processing industry in Western Canada relies heavily on temperature control valves to ensure safe and efficient operations. Chemical reactions are often exothermic or endothermic, which means they either give off or take in heat. Precise temperature regulation is necessary to achieve the desired reaction rates and product quality.
For example, in the production of synthetic chemicals, temperature control valves help maintain the exact temperature needed for catalytic reactions, ensuring product consistency and safety. Furthermore, temperature control is essential in preventing runaway reactions, which can lead to hazardous situations, especially when dealing with volatile chemicals.
In commercial and industrial buildings across Western Canada, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems rely on temperature control valves to regulate indoor climates. These valves help maintain a comfortable and efficient environment by controlling the flow of hot or cold water or air through heating and cooling systems.
In colder regions like Yukon and Nunavut, HVAC systems are critical for maintaining warmth during extreme winter conditions, ensuring both comfort and energy efficiency. In larger industrial facilities, temperature control valves also play a role in maintaining optimal conditions for equipment operation, preventing overheating, and reducing energy consumption.
The manufacturing sector in Western Canada benefits significantly from the use of temperature control valves, particularly in processes where maintaining specific temperature ranges is essential for product quality and machinery efficiency.
For example, in plastic manufacturing, temperature control is crucial during the extrusion process to ensure that the plastic flows smoothly and solidifies correctly without defects. In the automotive industry, precise temperature control during metal casting and welding processes ensures the structural integrity and performance of components.
Additionally, temperature control valves help prevent machinery from overheating, which can lead to downtime, increased maintenance costs, and reduced productivity.
